Strand Fare Coffee and Deli
Sandymount Village's most recent and popular arrival to the food and coffee scene.
Opening a business under any circumstance is not an easy task, but opening a cafe or restaurant during a global pandemic is an even greater challenge. Such a feat, Sandymount residence would say, has been successfully achieved by the team behind the popular 'Strand Fare'. Could this be the best place for coffee by the sea?
Opened by the couple behind S.T.R.A.N.D Interiors shop (also in Sandymount), Strand Fare has been carefully stocked with locally sourced produce such as baked goods from Bread41, cookies from Batch, produce from The Good Crop Co and much more.
Ideally located in the heart of Sandymount Village, this deli, coffee shop and fishmonger, all in one, has quickly become popular among locals and non locals alike. A line of customers down the street can often be seen on Saturdays. All waiting to get a hot coffee and warm pastry from their window hatch. This has allowed Strand Fare to stay open during lockdown periods. The window hatch has also been very popular with local dog walkers looking to make a quick coffee stop before hitting the Sandymount Strand with their pooch.
Their barista made coffees have become quite the competition for other well established cafes in Sandymount village. This is most likely because of the specialty Roasted Brown coffee used or the friendly baristas serving coffee with a smile. Their manager Jess or barista Brian can often be seen chatting to customers through the coffee hatch in the front window. This personal and local village feel of the business has kept customers coming back everyday, week after week for coffee to go.
The location in the heart of the village has been ideal during periods of lockdown as well as during the odd day of good weather (however sporadic those are!). Coffee to go can be enjoyed on Sandymount green (30 seconds walk), on the beach (60 seconds walk) or walking through Sean Moore Park (2 mins walk).
Hungry too? Tempt yourself with something from their shelves packed with artisanal and locally sourced food produce, sandwiches, breads and pastry. Not to mention their butcher and fishmonger counters serving fresh meat and fish six days a week.
Why not venture down to Sandymount Village and see what all the fuss is about. Hot coffee to go and a Batch cookie by the sea side doesn't sound so bad! If you end up loving Sandymount read out blog about the best coffee by the sea in Blackrock.

ReplyDeleteJust from reading this article, I can tell why people from Sandymount has taken a liking of this establishment as they have everything in one store. Locals can easily find what they need in one location without having to move to a different store, making it convenient.
ReplyDeleteApart from this, Strand Fare locally source their products meaning that they carefully take into consideration the quality of the products they produce and sell. Strand Fare is creating a unique space for locals to congregate while supporting other smaller local businesses. This place is definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area as their pastries and coffee is highly praised ...
Yes its definitely a unique space! ANd we love to support local.
DeleteI haven’t visited the place yet but I would love to try their coffee and find out what all the fuss is about. I really liked the review and if their coffee is as good as your post says then Sandymount is very lucky to have the coffee shop in their location. Great to hear that they are also selling locally sourced products which is great for the local economy and also the consumer is getting the freshest products available.
ReplyDeleteThe covid crisis has made people wary of walking into coffee shops even if their a queuing for a takeaway and having street hatch is great news. It seems as if the southside of Dublin has a great selection of coffee shops and hopefully the northside will one day catch up and open more coffee shops.
Yes you should definitely give it a try some weekend. The street hatch is very safe and they use contactless card payment.
DeleteWill have to try out this spot! Coffee and a treat sounds perfect for a little lunch time pick me up
ReplyDeleteInspiring to see blogs supporting local businesses during these tough times. Great post, I will be sure to give this place a visit.
